Gingivectomy is a surgical procedure of leveling and correcting the gingiva (gum tissue) at the neck of the teeth and consists in gum tissue removal.
Gingivectomy can be performed for orthodontic or aesthetic reasons.
At Marelić orthodontic clinic the requirement for a good orthodontic treatment is a correct application of dental brackets. If the surface of the teeth, for some reason, does not provide sufficient amount of space for an ideal placement of the bracket, the patient is suggested gingivectomy as a quick and painless solution.
When it comes to front teeth, gingivectomy is usually performed after the removal of orthodontic braces, during a stage when we try to render the smiles of our patients as perfect as possible with final corrections.
At Marelić orthodontic clinic gingivectomy is performed respecting the highest and most modern standards, using a laser that reduces the pain to minimum and enables a quick and simple recovery. Before the procedure patient is given local anesthesia, without the use of needle to completely eliminate any discomfort. The procedure is quick and simple and the results are excellent.
iLase is a dental laser that we use at Marelić orthodontic clinic. It is a so called ‘soft’ laser which means that it used mainly in procedures done on the soft tissue of the oral cavity (gingiva and dental supporting structures tissue, mucosal tissue of the cheeks, palate, tongue and sublingual area and lips) but is also used on pulp (root of the tooth) and for tooth whitening.
Area of application of this kind of laser is very vast. From gingival (gums) procedures such as gingivoplasty (shaping the gum line at the neck of the teeth) to supporting the healing process of the mucosal tissue surrounding dental implants.
